Following a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Pathology, Center for Neuroscience, Columbia University, New York, USA he became Full Professor of Neuroanatomy in 1999 at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, and is currently Director of the Department of Anatomy, Histology and Embryology at the Medical University Innsbruck. Prof. Klimaschewski had been the Austrian representative of COST action B30 (Neural Regeneration and Plasticity, NEREPLAS 2006-2010) and is currently member of the board of the Anatomical Society. Prof. Bernhard Moriggl MD, FIACA

Director of Centre of Excellence in Anatomy, Medical University of Innsbruck (MUI)
Vice Chair of Division of Clinical and Functional Anatomy (MUI)
Founding father (SIG US in Pain Medicine, ASRA)
Chair of WAPMU Scientific Committee

He started his University career in 1986 and has done Ultrasonography ever since. Some of Prof. Moriggl's scholars are practically concerned with ultrasonography. He often serves as Mentor and senior author. Prof. Moriggl has had Clinical Training, especially in Diagnostic Imaging. This background was the starting point of his Engagement in RA and Pain Medicine. In 2008 he has become Founding Father of a Special Interest Group (SIG) for Ultrasound in Pain Medicine (USPM) within ASRA and is now Educational Director. Prof. Moriggl is Contributor of the Practical Guide RA and Co-editor of the iBook Anatomy and Sono-anatomy of US-guided Pain interventions (with V. Chan, A. Bhatia) as well as to the pocket-book Principals and Practical Implementation by Peter Marhofer. He was Author of the Spine-chapter within the Atlas of Ultrasound-Guided Procedures in Interventional Pain Management, released in January 2011. The second edition will be released in 2017 which includes a brand new chapter on the “GON”. Prof. Moriggl has authored and co-authored many peer-reviewed articles in various highly recognized Journals: He developed and keeps up plenty of international cooperation both practically and scientifically. The most recent example of the former is co-development, support and inaugural examiner (CIPS) of the WAPMU (World Academy of Pain Medicine Ultrasonography) and the one for the latter is joining the Denmark-people around Jens Børglum and Thomas Fichtner Bendtsen from Copenhagen.
